AMD Ryzen 7 1700X

I have to admit that I like the Ryzen 7 1700X quite a lot. It is 100 USD cheaper and offers the close to 1800X performance. It surely will reach the same tweaking levels also.

After more than a decade of playing underdog and years of hyping its latest undertaking, we've reached the moment of truth: AMD Ryzen processors are on our testbed and we can finally discuss our findings.Pricing and specs have been divulged and are...

RYZEN IS HERE AT LAST and it's good. You can find out exactly why on page 34. But let's assume you buy into the broader proposition offered by AMD's hot new CPU.The 1700X is AMD's mid-priced Ryzen chip. You then need to decide between the three...

From what we've seen with the benchmarks, AMD's Ryzen 7 series offer a lot better performance given their much lower price point. Anomalies were plenty with some of the newer benchmarks with the Ryzen 5 processors which proved to be better. AMD's gain...

The AMD Ryzen 7 1700X retails at just RM 1,899 but when you compare price to performance, it floors the Ryzen 7 1800X as they're near identical but with the Ryzen 7 1700X running slightly cooler due to the lowered clock speed. My only dislike towards...

AMD hadn't just announced a new processor architecture, but the dawning of a new manufacturing process in which the chips would be based on, 14nm which was a first for AMD. Not only was their new 14nm FinFET process to be more energy efficient, but...

In a nutshell, Ryzen 5's main advantage over Intel's Core i5 range is the higher number of cores and threads it offers while sharing the same price bracket. That's not unlike what AMD offers with its Ryzen 7 CPUs, all of which are 8-core/16-thread...

Most of the content written in this conclusion is similar to what I already wrote about the Ryzen 7 1700 since the 1700X is basically the same thing but just clocked higher. Ryzen is an incredible accomplishment and it's nothing short of amazing. As a...

Before I started testing this chip I was half-expecting to call out the Ryzen 7 1700X as the unwanted middle child of AMD's new octa-core range, but the more I think about it it's the 1800X that starts to look essentially irrelevant. The 1700X is a...

AMD’s Ryzen 7 1700X takes the value proposition a step further and outperforms anything Intel offers at this price point in multi-threaded prosumer workloads.

AMD's Ryzen 7 1700X and 1700 are excellent 8-core/16-thread CPUs offering core counts and performance we never expected to see at price points that the masses can afford.

It's not all good news, though. With some legacy apps, audio encoding, lower-res gaming, and platform level tests, Ryzen trailed Intel – sometimes by a wide margin. There is obviously still optimization work that needs to be done – from both AMD and...
