AMD Ryzen 5 1400

Wrapping this up, I think the Ryzen 5 1400 is a smart choice for gamers and enthusiasts who are on a budget or simply don't need the best of the best. It should have you well covered for the time being and since AMD's AM4 platform is expected to remain relevant through 2020, it should be painless to install a new processor when the time comes.

The Ryzen 5 lineup has put an end to Intel's Core i5 lineup because you now have the option of getting either a 6C/12T or 4C/8T processor while the Core i5 lineup is all 4C/4T. Multi-threaded performance will be significantly better with any Ryzen 5...

If you want a quad core CPU then we think that the Ryzen 5 1400, whilst good, just hasn't got quite the same performance as the 1500X, thus they it won our Approved and the 1500X ended up with our Gamers Choice Award and this is the one out of the three we would recommend for most people considering the small amount extra it costs over the 1400 and the performance you can get compared to the 1600X in most games.

If you are building a new system for someone that is not gaming at all and just surfing, consuming media, and mailing, the 4-Core/8-Thread Ryzen 5 1400 is extremely compelling at $170.
