AMD Ryzen 3 3100

We think it’s fair to say the new Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X CPUs are the new undisputed budget champions. Not only is the 3300X cheaper than the 9400F, it also offers superior application and gaming performance. It’s available on a better platform, supporting up to 16 cores, and can be paired with a $70 B450 motherboard without memory restrictions.

AMD came out strong with new budget CPU offerings to likely round out Ryzen 3000. For a gamer on any form of budget rig, the 3300X is a solid buy, and the 3100 when overclocked is truly a great value.

There are a LOT of great AMD options out there right now. The older generation CPU prices are dropping steadily and are very tempting. That being said, the performance and price of the new CPUs is fantastic and I strongly recommend either of these CPUs, albeit, I’m leaning heavier towards the 3300X. With them offering support for PCIe Gen 4 on newer chipset motherboards, they’re doing a lot more than what Intel are offering at this price range right now.

With PCI Express 4.0 as standard, hyperthreading, good clock speeds, low temperatures and stunningly aggressive pricing the Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X are fantastic all-rounders and win our OC3D Gamers Choice and Value For Money Awards.

Regardless of the looming competition, AMD has hit a home run with the new Ryzen 3 processors. These are easily the most capable overall desktop parts in this price range right now, and seem poised to dent Intel’s desktop marketshare even further, on the DIY/enthusiast side of things at the very least.

With a price of $100, the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 has effectively abolished all Intel Pentiums and most of their Core i3 lineup. The Celerons can still be a viable choice for people looking for the absolute cheapest way to get a system up and running, with performance being only secondary. Pentiums are priced between $50 and $100, and come with just two cores plus HyperThreading—just buy the Ryzen 3 3100 instead, performance will be so much better in both applications and gaming.

So for your everyday work PC and a bit of gaming, heck we cannot complain at all really. You just need to keep your cost of ownership low, e.g. that motherboard needs to be at or under the 100 USD marker for this to really make proper sense and value.

The AMD Ryzen 3 3100 is an excellent entry-level CPU that absolutely changes the game when it comes to budget PC builds. With performance that comes within reaching distance of processors that cost twice as much, it makes PC gaming way more affordable.

The Ryzen 3 3100 is a stellar CPU for budget gamers and content creators who have a dedicated video card, bringing major multi-threaded pep to the $99 price point. Even so, many shoppers will be better off springing another Jackson for AMD's great Ryzen 3 3300X instead.

AMD’s Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X bring strong performance Zen 2 quad-cores to the sub-£120 market segment. Gaming frame rates are strong, especially on the 3300X, and compute performance punches well above the levels set by Intel competitors.

The Ryzen 3 3300X and 3100 bring a new class of gaming performance to the low end, serving up enough performance for high-end gaming while leaving room in the budget for a better GPU.

The Ryzen 3 3100 and especially the 3300X primary interesting processors for gamers on a budget - the four fast Zen 2 cores do better in games than the older 6-core Ryzen 5 2600. For office PCs, however, the requirement of a separate video card quickly punches too big a hole in the budget. It is obvious that amd will also be equipped with zen 2 cores in the course of this year, which means that you no longer have to choose between the two and with which AMD is likely to tap into a larger target group.
