Intel Core i3-12100F

The Core i3-12100F is even more impressive than what we were expecting. Despite only packing four cores, the application performance was excellent, often rivaling that of previous generation 6-core/12-thread processors. Then when it came to gaming it was much more capable than anticipated, often matching higher core count parts while offering substantial performance gains over the previous Core i3 base model.

The quad-core Intel Core i3-12100 is the fastest budget gaming CPU on the market. The chip's potent combination of price, performance, and improved stock cooler dominates its price range while punching up against more expensive competitors.

Equipped with the latest performance architecture and bringing to bear four cores and eight threads humming along at thoroughly reasonable speeds, the Intel Core i3-12100F is an instantly likeable £100 processor.

Priced at $105, the Core i3-12100F offers insane value. It's clearly the best choice in this segment. AMD really has nothing, as mentioned before, and the strongest competitors are Intel's own 11th, 10th and 9th gen processors, including "buy used" and "do not upgrade." A major issue is the high platform cost of Alder Lake DDR5—it makes absolutely no sense to pair the i3-12100F with an expensive Z690 motherboard and even more expensive DDR5.
