AMD’s last minute price hike of Ryzen 9 9900X makes the 9950X slightly more appealing.

The Ryzen 9 9900X looks like a great option for content creators and other professionals, thanks to its stellar multithreaded performance, but if gaming is the main focus, then don't bother. Actually, don't bother full stop, as the Ryzen 9 7900X is just much better value for money.

AMD's Ryzen 9 9900X matches Intel's Core i7-14700K on performance while remaining far cooler and drawing less power, making it a compelling option for your desktop.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X is positioned as an entry-point into the most powerful AM5 processors. 12 cores make it a solid choice for gaming, content creation, and working with big data.

AMD could be surfing the wave between Intel’s troubles and this promising generation, provided that the prices of the latter drop in the next few weeks. Thanks to AMD France for making this Ryzen 9 9900X available, and we hope to be able to bring you the performance of the Ryzen 9 9950X soon.

Now that all the (expected) AMD Zen 5 processors are released, we have clarity regarding AMD's lineup. It seems likely that AMD will release a 9950X3D and 9900X3D later this year, which will offer improved gaming performance, likely beating the Zen 4 X3D models, but AMD won't sell those cheaply. It's also highly probable there will be a 9800XD that will be priced a bit lower than the 9900X, so it might be worth waiting for.
