In the end, if the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is indeed the new king of gaming, this Ryzen 9 9950X3D does just as well, but will offer better performance in synthetic benchmarks, thanks to its 16 cores. So the choice is up to you, depending on how you use it. If your objective is purely gaming, then the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be your best companion and there will be no need to invest in the Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D leverages AMD's 3D V-Cache tech to deliver incredible gaming performance while retaining nearly all of the productivity performance of the standard Zen 5 models. If you can afford it, this is simply the most powerful all-arounder available.

In conclusion, AMD has reinforced its dominance in the CPU market with the 9950X3D, and it appears that no competitor will soon be able to challenge that position in the near future.

There's no processor like Ryzen 9 9950X3D, delivering class-leading performance that combines the very best of AMD's Zen 5 core architecture and latest 3D V-Cache designs.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is the jack-of-all-trades CPU. As good as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in games and roughly the same as the 9950X in content creation. It's a processing powerhouse with few peers, but it's not without niggles. And that price tag puts it well into the niche enthusiast territory.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is on par with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, the Core i9-14900K, and even the Ryzen 9 9950X in cumulative CPU benchmarks while offering good power efficiency gains. Productivity workloads see the Ryzen 9 9950X3D topping the charts with some tangible gains over Intel's offerings.

If you are involved in content creation, have demanding workloads, or want to future-proof your system, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D or 9950X3D is a downright solid choice. However, if you primarily use your computer for gaming and do not have workload-intensive tasks, the 9800X3D (and 7800X3D) provide excellent performance. Overall it was a pleasure testing this product. We'll say it once more this is the recommended processor series for PC gaming in 2025 (if in need of an upgrade), and truly is a new level of ZEN for Game PCs.

It's a familiar story with the 9950X3D, sitting atop its Zen 5 range as the all-out option with no compromises. However, AMD admits that gaming performance won't budge much more than 1% in most titles unless developers can utilize the additional cores and threads, so the Ryzen 7 9800X3D remains a smarter pick for gamers. On the productivity and creative side, AMD is crushing benchmarks and dominating the scene entirely, so this multi-function chip has its place, but it's an expensive place to be. Nevertheless, if you can harness all this chip has to offer, there is nothing better to recommend.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D realizes AMD's ambitions with 3D V-Cache, offering fantastic gaming and productivity performance in a single chip. It's expensive, and it makes a few performance compromises, but it delivers the best of both worlds.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D gets an 9 out of 10 from us as there is very little to pick on as a flaw. Its efficiency aspect, as we see above in the performance-per-watt chart, is one area we hoped AMD would have done a bit better; although the company should still be comfortably ahead of Team Blue in this department, Intel could end up catching up soon if AMD does not practice caution.
