Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super

When compared to the AMD competition, the GTX 1660 Super is a good bit faster than the Radeon RX 590, beating it overall by a 13% margin. But the Radeon's appeal is on pricing and that will determine which way you should go. If Nvidia does offer the 1660 Super at $230 then we’d purchase it over a $200 RX 590 and that was probably their intention all along.

Often as fast as the GTX 1660 Ti, and beating the OG GTX 1660 for the same price, the new GTX 1660 Super is the mainstream, graphics card of the day. At least until the inevitable AMD response, that is...

The GTX 1660 Super is a good blend of price and performance that almost makes the 1660 Ti look redundant, and the lower price makes this an easy recommendation for the $225 crowd.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super is a superstar in the entry-level graphics card market. Not only does it overcome the original GTX 1660, it all but matches the GTX 1660 Ti, making that more expensive card almost irrelevant in comparison.

There's not much to complain about here, and no surprises either. The Super version of the 1660 is 10 percent faster than its predecessor, for the same price. The EVGA card I tested runs cool and quiet, and is a great GPU for 1080p and 1440p gaming.

This is a great graphics card for 1080p gaming. Swapping out the GTX 1660's GDDR5 memory for much faster GDDR6 gives the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super a sizable performance boost, while the Asus Dual EVO OC's design runs cool and quiet with some nice extras. There's no price premium either.

The factory-overclocked EVGA GTX 1660 Super SC Ultra brings performance close to the more-expensive GTX 1660 Ti, while the cooling solution allows for quiet operation while gaming.

If you've been holding off on a mainstream video card for 1080p gaming, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super could be your trigger to buy: It's a solid-playing, popularly priced waypoint between the GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti.

The baseline performance is a little on the lower side despite its higher clock frequency. We're certain that the TDP allowance (power limiter) has a bit less Wattage assigned but that's , easily tweaked out that. Combined with good cooling levels, acoustics and healthy tweaking potential on top of that factory tweak we feel this is a worthwhile product. What's nice though it has all these variables housed inside a very compact design, and that is worthy of a recommendation as these are really handy to use add-in cards if priced right at that 229 USD marker.

This MSI GTX 1660 SUPER in particular is an outstanding graphics card, with the same high build quality, low temps, and low noise output we’ve come to expect with this design and its Twin Frozr 7 cooler. Considering this base Gaming model is hitting the market at $229.99 I find it to be an easy recommendation for a stock 1660 SUPER.
