The MSI Gaming X model offers solid performance and a typically cool and quiet cooler, though the $20 premium over the MSRP becomes a bigger deal in this lower-cost segment. Overall, the 1650 SUPER itself would get an ‘editor’s choice’ from me, and the $179.99 MSI Gaming X card itself takes home the gold – with pricing being the only possible drawback.

This is a fantastic graphics card, no doubt about it. It is also too expensive for a GTX 1650 SUPER.

Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1650 Super is the best budget graphics card you can buy for 1080p gaming, and the custom Asus ROG Strix model is loaded with extras for a mere $10 premium.

MSI is pricing their GeForce GTX 1650 Super Gaming X at $180, which is a $20 increase over the NVIDIA MSRP. As mentioned before, reference design cards are not available, so we couldn't measure the performance increase of the Gaming X over the reference card, but I doubt it's the 10% required to justify the $20 increase. However, looking at thermal performance, idle-fan-stop, and the super low gaming noise levels, I'd spend that extra money in a heartbeat just for the better cooler alone.

So for the Zotac GTX 1650 Super land among the loudest of our low-end cards is unfortunate. While I admire Zotac’s commitment to making such a small card, I can’t help but think that, if nothing else, a single, larger fan would have fared better. Low-end cards are always a design challenge in terms of profit margins, but I think there’s room here for Zotac to do better, even for a baseline card like their Gaming GTX 1650 Super.
