AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT

The Radeon 6700 XT is a pretty lukewarm product. It’s a very small improvement from its predecessor in terms of value. You do get a bit more VRAM, and efficiency has been greatly improved, but overall a 30% performance increase at a 20% price premium is hardly cause for celebration.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti vs. AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT: If you're seeking an affordable GPU for 1440p gaming in mid-2023, your options are very limited unless you're willing to spend $600, as there's no current-generation GPU available at a lower price point. So, our best advice for those in need of an affordable GPU for 1440p gaming is to snatch up a low-priced Radeon RX 6700 XT before stock runs out.

GeForce RTX 3060 Ti vs. Radeon RX 6700 XT: The only advantage the Radeon RX 6700 XT has over the RTX 3060 Ti right now is the larger VRAM buffer, jumping from 8GB to 12GB. This is an advantage that will certainly serve the 6700 XT well in the future, but right now there are very few instances where VRAM becomes relevant in terms of raw performance output.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 vs. AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT: 2022 Update: Looking back, our opinion hasn't changed all that much. DLSS quality and game support has only improved and the same is also true for ray tracing. However, what has changed is the pricing and as mentioned earlier, the 6700 XT can now be had for $600, while the RTX 3070 costs more like $850. It's a moving target, but that's a 42% price premium for the GeForce GPU.

GeForce RTX 3070 vs. Radeon RX 6700 XT: For those of you wanting to see how the Radeon RX 6700 XT and GeForce RTX 3070 compare in a massive range of games, you have your answer. Things haven't changed much from our day-one reviews. The 6700 XT fared a little worse at 1440p, but ultimately it doesn't change our conclusion.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT vs. 5700 XT: In terms of performance, the 6700 XT is a necessary step forward from the 5700 XT to keep up with Nvidia's fierce competition and equally aggressive RTX lineup this generation, unfortunately they're all undermined by market conditions and price hikes across the board.

AMD's Radeon RX 6700 XT is a solid competitor to Nvidia's lineup of midrange GPUs—if you stick to recent, optimized titles.

If you miraculously see this card for its list price, buy it, because you won’t get anything better for anywhere near that price in the near future. But it feels inferior to every Nvidia GPU that can compare — and I wouldn’t trade my 3060 Ti for one.

The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is an excellent 1440p graphics card, bringing the RDNA 2 architecture to a slightly more affordable price. However its proximity to the RTX 3070 in price means that it might not be the best choice, depending on the games you want to play.

Reviewing a video card these days is a bit like reading tea leaves. It's unclear if the products we're testing will actually be available for consumers to buy, and the real-world pricing is anyone's guess. At the very least, the 6700 XT fills a significant mid-range hole for AMD, and it's a decent performer if you don't really care about ray tracing. But given the state of the market today, I have a hard time recommending any GPU purchase until prices stabilize significantly.

A dab hand at 1080p and 1440p, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is a performant graphics card for 2021 and beyond. However, it simply isn't priced aggressively enough to snatch the sub-$500 market from Nvidia.

The Radeon RX 6700 XT delivers good performance, and the official price looks reasonable. It's doubtful AMD will meet the demand at launch, but long-term this should prove a competitive offering in the GPU market.
