AMD Radeon RX 6600

The Radeon RX 6600 is just like the 6600 XT, an uninspiring product made palatable only by the current climate. It does feel wrong recommending any graphics card right now, especially one that wouldn’t be good value, or anything remotely close to, in a normal market. That being the case, you absolutely shouldn’t buy a graphics card right now if you don’t need to, but if you do, the 6600 is probably going to be the decent option.

The Radeon RX 6600 could be a decent contender if the GPU market stabilizes and AMD pushes the price below $300. But for now, it’s a misfire that only makes sense if you can’t get your hands on an RTX 3060.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 is everything we want in a 1080p graphics card in 2021. It’s a bit pricier than we would like but given that all graphics cards are too expensive right now, there’s not much to do about that. But if you want an alternative to the RTX 3060, this is it.

Of course, It shares a lot of its hardware with the faster 6600 XT, such as the 32MB of Infinity Cache, 8GB of GDDR6, PCIe 4.0 8x, and 64 ROPs. However, the lower TDP and slimmed down cooler make it a more affordable prospect, and in today’s inflated market, affordable and in stock is what’s going to win the race. Plus, with the RTX 3060 currently sitting with a £200 premium over this card, I think I’ll have to stick with the red team for this round.

AMD's entry-level to mainstream product is excellent. The pricing, on the other hand, is disturbing. And that has nothing to do with this product from Gigabyte, as they do not dictate the pricing. MSRP's are sky-high, and the difficult market still doubles that amount of money at the client etailer side.

In the end, the new AMD Radeon RX 6600 is a competent, low-power 1080p gaming GPU, that should arrive at prices that undercut many of the other cards in its class. If you’re shopping for a mainstream, modern graphics cards, with support for all of the latest technologies, it is worth a look.

In any other time, the RX 6600 would be ridiculed for the price to performance on offer. At this stage in 2021 though, given the expected availability and relatively competitive pricing, it could be one to consider if you really need a new GPU.
