Intel Arc A580

The Intel Arc A580 is certainly a decent offering, and at $180 it's far from a bad buy, we're just not sure we're ready to roll the dice on Intel yet. They've come a long way in a short period of time, but there's a bit more work ahead before they can part with my money.

With its $179 price point, the Intel Arc A580 serves the entry-level market with a brand-new GPU that delivers decent 1080p performance - 20% better than the GeForce RTX 3050 on average. The SPARKLE model reviewed here is well-built and stylish, a definite value contender.

Intel's Arc A580 feels like a card from a previous generation, though at least it comes priced to move. But it's not much cheaper, or much slower, than the existing Arc A750, depending on street prices.

Intel's Arc A580 may not be a clear winner over the RX 6600, but it gives us real hope for Battlemage.

Intel Arc isn't just good for gaming, it could also be used for more professional workloads like GPU-accelerated rendering and AI, like Stable Diffusion. Here the A580 can make a difference, thanks to having a lot of memory bandwidth available. Another use case is encoding, especially due to AV1. The Arc A580 is the most affordable GPU with hardware-acceleration for AV1 video encode.
