Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 vs. RTX 4060 Ti 16GB: The GeForce RTX 4070 is on average 30% faster than the 4060 Ti 16GB – and can be as much as 40 to 45% faster, depending on the game and quality settings. That means if you were to buy these GPUs based on their new reduced prices, the RTX 4070 would cost just 22% more, making it by far the better value option.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 vs. 4070 Ti: We feel that at the $600 price point, the RTX 4070 is the best option available right now. For those considering spending $800 on an upgrade to the Ti model, you should really consider the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which can easily be found for the same $800 asking price. It packs loads more VRAM, is slightly faster for raster, and generally delivers competitive ray tracing performance.

GeForce RTX 4070 vs. RTX 2070: Worthy Upgrade or Not? For those who have been holding out with something like an RTX 2070, is that the new 4070 is offering around twice the performance for a $100 premium, so that's not bad. As we've established, it's also not amazing across a 5-year timeline, but still we think anyone upgrading from an RTX 2070 to a 4070 will be very happy and quite blown away by the extra performance.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 hits the sweet spot in the latest generation of graphics cards, capable of a fantastic Quad HD performance and entry-level 4K without breaking the bank. But, for games lacking DLSS 3 support, there’s not enough of a performance boost for 30 Series owners to justify an upgrade.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 feels like a necessary turning point for the RTX 4000 series. It's more affordable, smaller, and at better value than its siblings, making it without a doubt a great choice for most people looking to upgrade to a new GPU.I do...

The 4070 is a solid value for the price, giving you all of the benefits of Nvidia's latest architecture, outstanding 1440p performance, usable-with-compromises 4K performance, and excellent power efficiency. For the people who can afford it in the first place, it's worth the money.

In the RTX 4000 range, this RTX 4070 is for us the card with the most interesting price/performance ratio. If you have the budget, it is an excellent choice to build a new configuration to take full advantage of the 1440p definition. The power consumption is largely down compared to the previous generation and if you have DLSS 3 compatible games, you will be able to take full advantage of Ray Tracing.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 is arguably the perfect mix of performance, price, and advanced features that most gamers are going to want — and can actually afford — to buy. It's hard to find fault with this card other than its price, but kudos to Nvidia for keeping it under $600; it could have gone higher and we'd still have recommended it.

We hope that inventory of these MSRP cards is high as once you get into the higher-end cards you could easily approach the price of an RTX 4070 Ti. I think that at the end of the day this would be a solid choice for a graphics card if you are building a new system or upgrading over something in to 10 or 20 series.

At $599, the RTX 4070 is the most reasonably priced RTX 40-series GPU so far and Nvidia’s fourth in the series. It will be tempting for those still on GTX 10-series or RTX 20-series GPUs at that price point, particularly as GPUs from AMD and Nvidia have jumped in price this generation.

Now that we've seen NVIDIA's RTX 4070 in action, is it actually worth $599? For anyone with a GPU older than the RTX 30-series, I'd say so. (Though if you can spare an extra $200, the 4070 Ti is noticeably better.) A few years ago, we were hoping and praying for GPU prices to come back down to Earth. We've seen 4070 Ti cards stick close to its initial $799 launch price, so there's a good chance you'll actually be able to find a 4070 this year without overpaying too much.
