Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

As good as the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti is -- not how good it is for the money, we just mean in general the performance is impressive: pumping out 87 fps on average at 4K -- we must wonder just how long it will be before 12 GB of VRAM starts to become insufficient at this performance tier.

GPU Benchmarks

GPU benchmark scores are aggregated from dozens of tests conducted in TechSpot's labs, compiled from our full library of GPU reviews and gaming benchmarks. Scores are normalized to a shared baseline and organized by resolution, covering rasterized workloads exclusively. Ray tracing and upscaling technologies are disabled to guarantee consistent, like-for-like comparisons.

Today, we're examining GPU performance in the Phantom Liberty update for Cyberpunk 2077. The game has undergone significant updates for the new DLC. The myriad changes and improvements version 2.0 offers are too extensive to detail here. However, some...

Bethesda's latest RPG Starfield brings with it some space opera vibes and plenty of mineral ores to mine with lasers. Striking visuals and an expansive world combined with enjoyable gameplay make it worth the anticipation according to early reviews, but...

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti vs. GeForce RTX 3080: On average, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is 19% faster than the RTX 3080 10GB, depending on the resolution, with margins typically peaking around 30 to 40%. We saw no games where the RTX 3080 beat the 4070 Ti, but there were a few titles where performance was almost the same.

Radeon RX 7900 XT vs. GeForce RTX 4070 Ti: Overall they are very close in terms of performance, the 7900 XT generally does better with ray tracing disabled – Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3, Dying Light 2, and Cyberpunk 2077 all good examples of that – but there are signs that ray tracing performance in future titles using Unreal Engine 5 could be a lot more competitive, as seen in Fortnite. Still, if you're keen on ray tracing performance then the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is the more attractive product.

The RTX 4070 Ti Super opens with additional horsepower, memory, and all the Ada-powered goodness, with a 20+fps increase in rasterized results, and far larger margins for current games. The price may be a sticking point, but this is the new bottom of...

If you're looking for a cheaper way to arm the best gaming PC with a Lovelace GPU, the RTX 4070 Ti is probably your best bet. It pains me to describe it as affordable, as it still costs more than I'm personally comfortable with. That said, it's...

The RTX 4070 Ti marks the third entry in the Ada Lovelace roundup, dropping the price of entry to an almost palatable $799. Raw performance is basically on par with the RTX 3090, but with half the memory and lower power consumption, while DLSS 3 hopes to make the performance picture a bit rosier.

For 1440p I see no convincing alternative to RTX 4070 Ti, unless you're willing to accept lower performance (RX 6800 non-XT, used GeForce 20). AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XT suddenly feels overpriced at $900, and I doubt that RTX 4080 can stay at $1200 for long—there's now a huge $400 gap between two NVIDIA offerings with no space left in-between for a new model, so the coming months will be interesting to see how GPU prices continue to develop.

The card has a faultlessly rounded shape, even though its width and length are at the absolute top of what any case, let alone mid-towers, can take. However, at 1.8 kilogrammes, it is somewhat heavy. At the very least, they included a straightforward cardholder. The ASUS graphics card is an excellent addition to the ROG Strix family of gear, and it is prepared to take on any holiday-themed gaming challenge you may throw at it. Pricing is unconfirmed at the time of writing this article, but as stated, we expect a premium of 200 USD.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is a ferociously capable graphics card for 1440p gaming, but Nvidia cut down the memory system in a way that reduces 4K performance and overpriced the GPU by hundreds of dollars. It offers stagnant value at best and atrocious value at worst depending on how you look at it. We can’t recommend the 4070 Ti unless Nvidia slashes the cost significantly.

A fine choice for QHD gaming, more memory or an even lower fee would elevate RTX 4070 Ti from good to great.
