A small bump to performance but a big reduction in price - that's the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER story in a nutshell. And in stylish Founder Edition form, you still have impressive, god-like, 4K gaming performance with unmatched ray-tracing capabilities and additional features like DLSS.

The 4080 Super is a solid value for high-end gaming, since it’s both faster and $200 less than its predecessor.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super is an impressive, and rather left-field move from team green. Without the significant extra hardware grunt that the other Super cards received, it’s outpaced by older overclocked RTX 4080 cards. The $200 price drop is a solid win though, but adds to the confusion when compared to older overclockable editions that are now likely discounted. In isolation, it’s a strong GPU, more than capable of driving any game you throw at it in 4K, with frame rates often tipping well over 100fps.

So definitely some food for thought. I always had my feelings about how the 4080 was too expensive, but at $1000, it’s definitely a card that really has no competition when you factor in all elements including performance, Ray Tracing, upscaling, streaming and all of the other features that separate AMD and NVIDIA.

The RTX 4080 Super is an ideal card if you’re moving to 4K, but only if the price holds right. I just hope that this $999 pricing actually sticks. I’d still like to see it at well under $1,000, but given the competition is still selling $999 RX 7900 XTX cards, I’m not surprised Nvidia hasn’t dropped further.

There you have it, another SUPER launch is in the books, and we have a very slight performance edge over the original version of the card. When comparing the new RTX 40 Series SUPER cards, by far this is the smallest performance uplift compared to the original. HOWEVER, this card is nearly 17% less expensive than the version it is replacing. When does this ever happen?

Nvidia’s already ferocious RTX 4080 gets a small performance boost and a big price cut for this Super-fied variant. It makes a world of difference. The cheaper GeForce RTX 4080 Super instantly upsets its rivals and becomes the best modern 4K graphics card under $1,000.

At the end of the day, the RTX 4080 Super has improved Nvidia's position in this market segment. Not by offering any meaningful performance gains, but by lowering the price-point to really squeeze AMD and the RX 7900 XTX in particular. I do find it to be a very lacklustre launch overall for the reasons outlined above, but the fact remains, if you are shopping for a £900-£1000 GPU, the Nvidia RTX 4080 Super is probably the card to get.

The GeForce RTX 4080 Super isn't a revolutionary refresh in terms of specification or performance uplifts, but its new $999 MSRP dramatically improves its value versus its similarly priced Radeon competition. So much so, in fact, that it's now the de facto option for those with $1,000 to spend on a graphics card, with strong ray tracing and rasterization performance, both of which can be boosted further with DLSS 3.

In the end, NVIDIA’s brought its second fastest GPU down into the sub-$1,000 price bracket. That’s not cheap, but it’s a positive development nonetheless and we welcome it. The GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is fast, power efficient, we dig the all-black aesthetic, and it is ultimately a better value for enthusiasts shopping for a high-end GPU.

The RTX 4080 Super mostly improves Nvidia's product stack by slashing the MSRP by $200. It's barely faster than the vanilla 4080 and otherwise doesn't offer anything truly new, but cheaper and faster are at least a step in the right direction.
